FOZZY Frontman CHRIS JERICHO Eliminated From 'Celebrity Duets'

August 29, 2006

According to ProWrestling.com, FOZZY singer and former WWE wrestling champion Chris Jericho's venture into the mainstream was short-lived; he was the first celebrity contestant eliminated from FOX's "Celebrity Duets" — an unscripted series that pairs singing stars with celebrities outside the music industry to make "beautiful music" together.

Despite his recording experience as FOZZY's lead singer, Jericho could not match the talent of the celebrity pool consisting of names like Alfonso Ribiero and Lea Thompson.

Jericho received a lukewarm response from the judges for his take on "Mendocino County Line" with country music star Lee Ann Womack. "Signed, Sealed and Delivered", his duet with Peter Frampton, played to a much more favorable reaction from the judges, but it wasn't enough to push him through to the next round of the competition.

"Celebrity Duets" follows the professional singers as they instruct their partners, choose songs and perform duets in front of a panel of judges and a live studio audience. After each episode, viewers vote for their favorite duets. The winning pair emerges from the competition in perfect harmony, while the losers definitely will have to change their tune.
